J.H. Whitley letter, 1865 Jan. 18.

Letter from Lieutenant J.H. Whitley, a Confederate prisoner of war at the Officers Prison at Fort Delaware to a friend incarcerated at another prison, Colonel William L. Graham of the 16th Virginia Cavalry. Whitley describes the conditions at his prison, the meager rations of food, and the recent arrival of a new group of prisoners from General John Bell Hood's army. The letter closes with a request for news of friends in prison with Graham.
